Submission Guidelines: We welcome proposals that clearly articulate the research question, methodology, expected outcomes, and potential impact. Proposals should demonstrate understanding and alignment with CIMC's epistemology and be geared toward actionable research — whether theoretical, experimental, or applied. Content guidelines: Please include your response to the following questions:
Timeline & budget note: CIMC prioritizes up to 6-month work plans (max initial funding USD 100,000). If your vision extends beyond six months, clearly list the milestones and deliverables you will complete in the initial window. Length: < 4,000 words Research Proposal for the California Institute of Machine Consciousness Abstract: A concise summary of the research objectives and significance (up to 250 words). Research objectives: Research questions, goals and testable hypotheses. Methodology: Detailed description of research methods, design, tools, frameworks, and/or analytical approaches you intend to use. Expected outcomes: Summary of the spectrum of possible research results and their potential impact on the field of machine consciousness. Timeline: Deliverables and their timeline.
